Have You Heard…
December 21, 2009
by Maria Ibâñez

Greetings, here we are, a few days from Christmas, with most of the country blanketed in fields of very deep snow and a cold front whose fingers of cold have reached all the way down to South Florida and has brought with it temperatures which have dipped down to the very low 50s in Miami. It is our fervent hope that all the white covering the country will bring with it a blanket of peace and goodwill to mankind today and into the future and that all things good come to you and yours throughout the new year.

Our annual party has come and gone with over 40 friends in attendance. Jay was the chef who treated us to home made arroz con pollo (chicken and rice), salad, Cuban bread, pastries and treats of all types, desserts, wines, sodas, coffee and a great deal more. We had a gift exchange game which was hilarious as everyone was allowed to take someone elses gift and swap around; naturally there were 2 gifts that exchanged hands numerous times as everyone was after the same two items. Elections were held for next year’s officers.

Impromptu magic, jokes, stories and entertainment followed along with a treat…..tango music sang by none other than Fantasio who is quite an accomplished tango singer as you will see from the beautiful graphic enclosed of the painting he just received from Fabrini. The only way to describe it is, it was a truly magical evening.

Jay and I are now looking forward to cleaning up and picking up after the party as we get ready and await the arrival of Orlando tomorrow evening. He’s driving from Virginia to Jacksonville and flying from there to Miami where we will celebrate Christmas before we leave to celebrate New Years in the house in the north along with both our sons Orlando and Jason and his family. We are excitedly looking forward to being together as a family in one place at one time.

The next issue of the publication The Magic Touch is coming out just after New Years so if you have anything you would like to have included please send it in to me at merlina17@aol.com as early as possible. I’ll be working on the finishing touches over the vacation time in order to get it out as close to the New Year as possible; this will also allow me a little more time to do the traditional translations.

To our friends, known and unknown, in the military who will be away from their families this holiday season, we wish you health, safety and the knowledge that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many of us back home who pray for you daily. May you be home sooner rather than later and safely. God bless you each and everyone as you face your daily trials.

We wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and the healthiest of holiday seasons.

Until next time..….keep a dream in the making for you create your tomorrows by what you dream today.

Magician parodies David Beckham’s famous Armani underwear advert
By Ben Todd

Few men would dare emulate this pose by David Beckham. But Paul Daniels seems to be making a habit of it. The 71-year-old magician slipped into some designer underwear and copied the footballer’s tattoos to recreate his stance on an advertising poster for Armani. While some of the differences are obvious – Beckham’s rope is thicker, for example – Daniels claims to be pleased with the result, which appears in women’s magazine Closer.

Visiting the Sets of Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
by: Edward Douglas

Anyone who lives or works in New York City is well aware how many movies and television shows are filming there on a regular basis; you can’t walk from one side of Manhattan to the other without running into at least one production. While it’s always nice traveling out of the city to visit sets in faraway places with exotic names like Bucharest, Baton Rouge and Vancouver, there’s also something nice about getting on a subway and watching a film shooting in one’s own neighborhood, which is exactly what happened earlier this year when I went out to get my morning coffee and noticed an entire street closed off in the process of being turned into a fantasy version of Chinatown.

¿Escucho?
Diciembre 21, 2009
