The Town Commission, the Town Police Department and the Town
Recreation Committee are planning another major community event, Family Fun
and Drug Awareness Day, to take place on Sunday, August 17, 2003, from 9:30
a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Surfside Park, 9572 Bay Drive.
All Surfside residents and their families are invited to attend on August
17th for a day filled with FUN, FOOD, GAMES and MUSIC!
This year’s program includes a Police K-9 demonstration, law enforcement and
firefighting vehicles, a Tae Kwon Do exhibition, the Marine Animal Rescue
Society, "Merlina" the Magician, Rock
Climbing, water rides and numerous amusement activities for kids and
toddlers. The event will include a FREE BBQ lunch, hot dogs, hamburgers,
snow cones, refreshments, t-shirts and more. Admission is for Surfside
residents only.
The recent Surfside Family Fun Day was a tremendous success, with residents
of all ages enjoying a day of fun and an opportunity to meet neighbors and
new friends.
These programs are being coordinated by Town Commissioner Frank MacBride,
who also serves as the Chairman of the Recreation Advisory Committee.
Commissioner MacBride is an Assistant Principal in the Miami-Dade County
Public School System. Mr. MacBride holds a Masters of Science Degree in
Elementary Education, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education,
and an Associate of Arts Degree. Mr. MacBride is an accomplished teacher,
administrator, and a recognized leader in education and youth programs. Mr.
MacBride has also served as Cub Master for Cub Scout Pack 320 and in many
leadership roles with area scouting organizations.
Prior to his service on the Town Commission, Mr. MacBride served on
Surfside's Planning and Zoning Board and has been an active Town resident
for many years. Commissioner MacBride works closely with the Town
Administration, the Town Recreation Department, and Town resident volunteers
who continuously work to plan, create and implement community programs and
events. |
